On the road to Cronemiller Lake……

This stamp is in honor of our son’s beloved horse, Tag. Tag has traveled many places with us and enjoyed many adventures. He is our son’s constant, imaginary, companion and we are grateful for his loyalty. Every boy should have such a great (and easy to care for) pet! :)

Directions to the box:
Travel to Peavy Arboretum off Hwy 99 - just 3 miles north of Corvallis. Follow the green signs off Hwy 99 to Arboretum Rd. (The park entrance is on the west side of the road.) Peavy is a great place to picnic, hike, mountain bike, or ride horses. For a map of the Arboretum see www.cof.orst.edu/cf/forests/arboretum/arboretum_map.php

Park at any of the parking lots, but then walk up the hill past the lodge, the duck pond, and the Firefighter Memorial Shelter until you reach the information kiosk.

Walking past this kiosk you will be on John H. Beuter Road. The hike up this gravel road leads to Cronemiller Lake. When you reach the Forestry Club Cabin and the Big Wheels of the West, you will see a fork in the road – Go right.

After just 30 meters you’ll see a stone monument to your left dedicated to Fred Schreiner. Mr. Schreiner was a staff member of the School of forestry in the Oregon Agriculture College from 1927-1934. Behind this monument you will find the letterbox hidden under sticks and rocks. Please return to its spot careful; so that it cannot be seen by the many hikers who use the area. Thanks!

Return to the main road to continue on to Cronemiller Lake and the George Brown Sports Arena. Enjoy!
