Members of the KUNZMAN – PETERSON family meet in Louisville on even years (00, 02, 04, etc.) for a “grand” family reunion!

We have approximately 100 - 140 people attend. They come from Houston & Dallas, TX, Southern & Northern CA, Wichita, KS, Detroit, MI, Minnesota, Florida, Pittsburgh, PA, Alabama, and large groups from Indiana and the Louisville area.

This year we wanted to combine our letterboxing hobby with the reunion. Da Kool Kats, Gary and Carole, from Northern CA placed a letterbox in the Louisville area in honor of Carole Kat’s family.

A pencil or pen is advised to copy or draw the trail map.

Directions:

Go to Browns Park on Kresge Way in St. Matthews.
Park in the parking lot.
Stop at the wooden trail map. The yellow square in the upper right corner of the map is your goal. We suggest the following route to achieve this destination:

Follow the Red Trail on the left side of the play area.
Bear right on the Green Trail when you see the two stone pillars (could these be the corner stones of our family) and follow the Green Trail to the bridge.
Cross over the bridge and continue your trek on the Yellow Trail. Bear right at the “Y.”
Walk to the red brick wall.
At the nearest corner of the wall take 20 steps (each footfall=one step) at 270.
Then take 35 steps at 240.
Then take 18 steps at 320, towards a “slingshot” tree. This tree represents the KUNZMAN and PETERSON branches of our family tree.
The box is in the “Y” of the tree.

For maximum box safety, retrieve the box from the far side of the tree. If you removed the rock while retrieving the box please replace it in the tree on the “path side" of the box when rehiding. Wedge the box tightly, re-clip the box to the wire loop for security and cover with as much debris as you can find to help it to look as natural as possible and to hide the camouflaged box.

The box was secured this way because we’ve been told that the park often floods and we didn’t want the box to be washed away. Please notify us when you have found the box and keep us informed as to the condition of the box and book.
