Living near the Youngstown Air Force Base Iíve grown accustom to the C-130ís flying low over my house coming in for landing. It wasnít until I saw the look on someoneís face that wasnít from the area that I truly appreciated how impressive it is to see one of these planes up close. So I decided to carve a stamp of the plane, and to recognize the men and women in the reserves who have dedicated their lives to protecting the United States.
Since I couldnít find an area around the base to plant the box, I decided to plant it in Crown Hill Cemetery in Vienna OH. While looking for the hiding spot, we saw several of the C-130ís coming and going and had great views of them. We also realized we could hear the engines of on sitting out on the run way. The best time to see the planes is Tuesday evenings since thatís when they practice maneuvers.
Crown Hill Cemetery is located at 3966 Warren Sharon Road Vienna OH 44473. You can get to the box from Interstate 80 exit 229 to Rt. 193 (Belmont Ave). Go north on Rt. 193 to the center of Vienna. Turn left on Warren-Sharon Road. Cemetery is on the right approximately 2 miles.
Enter into the cemetery and go left towards the Funeral and Viewing Chapel located in the back of the cemetery. Go past the chapel to the back of the cemetery. Continue on this road as it heads east, you will see a flag pole to the left, and a wall with the last supper to the right. Pull off the side of the road when you see the Roth headstone on the left. (located just before the road begins to curve south). Park here and head over to the far left corner of this section by the pine trees. When you reach this corner you will see a ditch and a group of trees with a stump clustered in them. The box is hidden in this cluster by the stump.
Please be sure to recover the box. The trees provide some cover for the box, but the additional cover is needed.
