This box is located in McDonald Forest in Peavy Arboretum, approximately 7 miles north of Corvallis off of Hwy 99 (on Arboretum Road). You can "Google" Peavy Arboretum for a more detailed map. It is a hilly, beautiful, 1.2 mile hike. Locate the Forest Discovery Trailhead and park in the lot nearby. Head up the trail, soon crossing a gravel road. Continue on the trail until you reach several intersections. Stay left. You will eventuallly cross another gravel road. Continue on the trail and down a series of long, erosion-control steps. Not too far past these steps, the forest will open up a little. You will see several cut logs on the right side of the trail. One log will be perpendicular to the trail. Look behind the log to find the box. Please cover the box with a couple sticks to keep it hidden. Just past the box, on the left side of the trail is what our kids have named the "horsey log". It almost appears to have a mouth and eye stalk. It has provided us lots of entertainment. Make sure you have a seat and bounce a little! Enjoy the rest of your hike. Explore some more!
