'Tude Dudes at
Northwest River Park

DIRECTIONS
From Norfolk take I-464 south. At end of I-464 stay to left take Rt. 168 south. Take exit 8B, Hillcrest Pkwy East (last exit before toll). Turn right onto Battlefield Blvd. Turn left on Indian Creek Rd. Park is approx. 4 mi on right.

From North Carolina travel North on Rt. 168. Turn right on Gallbush Rd., turn right on Indian Creek Rd. Park is approx.4 mi on right.

**This time of year, bring OODLES of bug spray and be careful of poison ivy**

There is only ONE log book at the THIRD and last letterbox. Please remember to stamp in there! Thanks!

Follow the entry road to the left, the "day use only" area of the park. Park in Parking Lot 1. Walk across the street, past the the NW River Park Trail System map (on your right), and take Indian Creek Hiking Trail (by memorial gardens). The adventure begins!

Go right at the split (after the first wooden bridge), up the steps. Continue along the dirt path. You will see steps going downward, right before the bridge over the water. Reach under the third step from the top, on the left hand side. This is Letterbox #1, Hopeful Hank. Please rehide CAREFULLY! :-)
Continue on and across the bridge over the water. Walk up, over the roots and take a sharp left on the path, so that the water is parallel to you on the left. Follow this "hilly"/skinny path.
Cross the second stream and climb the steep "hill." Keep going approximately 50 paces. Look for the tree whose roots are spread into the middle of the path. To the right of this tree, you will see an extention of it's roots growing into the side of the hill. Underneath the center root, you'll find box #2, "Lovestruck Liam." Again, please rehide well.
Continue to follow the trail parallel to the water. Cross under the large fallen tree...you're still on the hunt for box #3.
Turn right at the "T" in the path and continue a short distance along the trail. You will see a GIANT fallen tree and another thinner fallen tree. At the base of the thinner fallen tree, it is split open. Box #3, Estatic Eli, is here. STAMP IN! :-)

To get to your car, either turn around and go back the way you came, or continue on the path to the service road. Take a right onto the service road. Follow this road until you see the trail on the right hand side with a "No Bicycles" sign. Enter the trail here and you will see the bridge over water that you crossed over before. You should remember how to get back to your car from here.
