Update: 4-15-07 All is fine. I was so happy to see that it has had several visitors. Thank you for the wonderful comments.

I would like to THANK!! my great friend Natalie for introducing me to the world of Letterboxing.

The Lake Hemet Campgrounds are located in The San Jacinto Mountains, elevation 4340'. It is a great place to go camping and you never need reservations because the campgrounds are so large. Drive time from The San Gabriel Valley area is about 2 hrs. While visiting the area, plan to go to Idlywild. It is a great little town to shop and the food is good. It is approx. 7 miles (15-20 min.) from the camp grounds.

CLUES

Hwy 74 east make a right turn on Hemet Lake Rd. (If you reach the campgrounds you have just passed Hemet Lake Rd.)

Hemet Lake Rd. is a winding road, follow it for approx. 1.2 miles until it dead ends.

On the South side of the dead end you will find a trail that leads down (180 degrees). Hike down this trail approx. 65 paces to main lake trail. (take trail closest to dead end)

Then travel 165 paces (225 degrees south west)right, until you come to a high voltage box on your right side.

From the voltage box continue on 75 more paces to a large boulder which appears to be anchored by a tree (right side), continue on 10 more paces, stop!

On your right side you should see a trail that leads upward(300 degrees North West), continue up this trail approx. 46 more paces. At this point look to your right. You should see a sage bush in front of a group of large boulders. Under the boulders you should see a pile of rocks.

The Letterbox is hidden under the pile of rocks.

Suggestions: Use colored stamps or markers

Please be aware of your surroundings and wear appropripate shoes.

This is the my first letterbox, please let me know if you where sucessful in finding the letterbox and what you thought of my clues at malo3126@sbcglobal.net

This letterbox was a family creation from the beginning stage until we found the perfect location to hide the box.
