Time: Depends on if you start to sample rum . . .

Once upon a time, two brothers in Portland started a chain of brewpubs. But they couldn’t resist old, sometimes condemned buildings, which they bought for a song and fixed up for funky lodging. They became cutting edge in their field in Troutdale, Oregon.

But they also felt it was their mission to provide movie theatres with tables, beer and food. The film, “What the Bleep Do We Know”, was filmed at one of their theatres.

Find their mission and you will hear the Call of the Caribbean wafting through the air nearby. This is a place that serves rum and goat. A treasure chest awaits you there. Inside is the type of treasure that is not gold or gems but equally valuable to all who find it.

Step inside where they serve rum and ask for Kurt or Kevin. At least one of them should be there and will know of the treasure you seek. You can see the chest when you step in. It is high in a corner among the bottles.

If you have time, hang around and try the fruit salad (one of my favorites), the conch fritters, the goat roti or the medley of sorbets (another of my favorites.) And don’t forget the rum – they have a whole menu of rums to try. Jack Sparrow should be so lucky.

This is my very first letterbox.
