From the state park here, travel southwest on the Sand Spring Trail, passing the Blue trail on your left. Pass a blue diamond, and eventually you will go downhill and see some "walking" trees on your left. Keep going!
On your right pass a 3-trunker with a faded blue diamond and teal blaze. A little further is another teal blaze, and from there 13 paces to what may be the rear end of a curious Fido on your right. How cute is that?!?!
After checking out Fido, keep on going past another blue diamond, and down the hill. Soon you will come upon a wall of shrubbery (mountain laurel? Rhododendron?) Stay on the main trail, keeping the wall and the sound of the stream on your left. Now you will start back uphill, away from the stream and beautiful wall.
There will be a grouping of rocks along the left side of the trail and a massive 3-trunker on your right. 9 paces from this tree takes you to a blaze on the far side of a tree on your right (you'll have to take a quick look in the other direction).
19 STEPS from this blaze in your original direction takes you to a fallen 2-trunked tree perpendicular to the trail on your left between a many trunked tree on its right and a "bowled-out" tree on its left. Follow this fallen tree as it goes 210 degrees about 9 paces to a standing 3 (2 1/2?) trunked tree that holds what you seek.
