Spirit In Nature, Interfaith Path Sanctuary

A box for donations is on site.

This past weekend I got a little letterboxing fever and planted 11 boxes and one Hitchhiker in about 24 hours. The area around Lake Dunmore is a place I have loved to see for thirty years and now felt some of it needed to be shared. The following letterboxes all were placed on August 18 and August 19, 2006:

Duck in the Headlights
Falls of Lana
Silver Lake (3)
Moosalamoo
Spirit in Nature
Robert Frost One
Robert Frost Two
Le Plessis Bourre’
Mr Frimble
Pirate Pete
Makishi Dancer
And the “Spiritual Center” hitch hiker

Take a look at a map for all of them, if you can, before you head out. Most will be close to either Route 73, Forest Road 32, Route 125 or Route 7. Some are quick, some quicker.

If you are focused, this is pretty quick. There is a bench at end of trail to stamp in. Map says that the Buddhist Trail is .23 miles and 30 minutes----this box is way shorter then that.

Spirit In Nature is a series of trails (web site: www.spiritinnature.org) that encourage you to contemplate the meaning of life (hey wasn’t that a movie? “ahh, just one little mint?”, but I digress). It is located about two miles down Forest road 32 from Ripton (on Route 125). Trail head is on left, plenty of room. The day I planted this box a wedding had been preformed earlier.

Again there is a donation box for those who would like to support the efforts of those who create and maintain such a thoughtful place. Look at map at trail head. Find the Buddhist (green) trail. At split of Buddhist trail, go left (Buddhist side path trail). At Zen Master Dogen Poem step 28 steps down trail. On left there is a Large tree trunk. In your end of fallen tree is the Spirit In Nature Letterbox. Go down to trail end to stamp in on the bench. If anyone is offended by the presence of this box please do not hesitate to e-mail me about it.
