F0RT D0NELS0N NAT’L BATTLEFlELD (www.nps.gov/fodo) is one mile west of Dover, TN on US 79.

****Bittersweet is fine, but Sage is missing****

MT: Bittersweet

Make your way to the circle drive just below Tour Stop #5. From the road you can see a brown sign with the hiker symbol and an arrow. Follow this arrow into the woods. Not far, maybe 1/4 mile, you see a small wood bench on the right. Have a seat. Look straight ahead and see a triple tree about 20 steps off the trail. To the left of the triple tree is a quadruple tree with a 5th dead tree coming out the middle of the 4 trunks. The box is tucked in between the trunks, about knee level.

MT: Sage

Follow the Park Tour signs to the other side of the highway, to Tour Stop #7. Park and walk to the end of the circle driveway, walk down the clearing, past the Graves Battery sign, continuing downhill through a wide field. The field narrows to a trail and gets steeper downhill. At the point that the field narrows to a trail, count 130 steps down the hill to a grand old tree that looks like it deserves a letterbox. The box is behind the tree, tucked into its roots.
