Along Route 104, better known as the West River Road, in Sidney is the Public Boat Access for the Kennebec River. This area also holds the Town of Sidney Recreation area with a couple of ball fields. At the entrance is a street sign, Recreation Drive, marking the road down to these areas.

Certain times of the year this is a very busy area. We originally wanted to plant the letterbox along the banks of the Kennebec but we were not sure how high the water might get and the fact that there is a lot poision ivy along the banks, we opted to plant it out behind the ball field. There is a nice walking path along the river bank though off of the boat landing.

To locate the letterbox drive down the hill and all the way to the back of the fenced ball fields. Walk around the fence area to the field in the back. With the ballfields on your left and a dead tree trunk with what looks like a bird opening at the top on your right look straight ahead at the hill in front of you. Just to the left side of the hill toward the top, there are a cluster of large rocks. This is the area that holds the prize.

Once you reach the rocks you will notice one in front alone and a row of three together. Behind the rock all the way to the left in the row of three the letterbox awaits in hiding. Please be descreet and rehide carefully.

Happy letterboxing! Just down the road you will find the Sidney FD letterbox.
