The Pub Crawl.

This letterbox was inspired by the “John Stark” letterbox, as the idea came for it as we were following the clues for that letterbox.

While searching, we would find the spot in question (like the John Stark statue in downtown Manchester), write down the inscription, and then head for a pub to have a drink and decipher the clue. In that spirit (or spirits), the “Pub Crawl” letterbox has you searching and locating a few of the establishments that we stopped in as we searched for the “John Stark” letterbox. You will need to write down the name of the establishment as it appears on the sign out front in the spaces below (NOTE – you will need to spell out any abbreviated symbols. Ex. “&” = “and”). When you have found all of the correct names of the establishments, and filled in the spaces, you will have everything you need to solve the “Pub Crawl” letterbox. Letters located in (__) spaces will need to be used to decipher the clues in a “Word Jumble” style. (NOTE - the asterisks (*) represent spaces, as when I went to post this box, the website removed them from the "Jumble" clues. my appologies)

This letterbox is "kid friendly" in the sense that it does not require you to go inside any of the pubs in question.

To get started, you will need to find the John Stark statue located just outside of city hall, off Market Street. If you were to walk towards the river (the opposite direction of which John is pointing), you will come across the first pub. Its known for having 55 different beers on tap, and having live music daily. The sign out front also has a saxophone on it as well.

Once you have found this great little place, you will want to head in the direction that Stark is pointing in, looking for an Irish Pub with green window treatments, and clovers. Its kiddie corner from Manchester's only 24 hour diner, the Red Arrow. This pub is more of the neighborhood watering hole variety, but they too have a full menu that is great, as well as some good beers on tap. Still can't find it? Heres a hint - “down boy, down!”

2.) __ (__) (__) * __ (__) __ __ * (__) (__) __ __ (__) * __ (__) (__) * __ __ (__) *
__ (__) __ __ __ (__) (__) __ __ (__)

Now that you have celebrated some Irish heritage, you are going to be heading towards the mills by the Merrimack under the bridge. Here is home of a great micro-brewery that also has an excellent menu, as well as a wonderful porter (if you like porters that is) named after our own Mr. Stark.

3.) (__) (__) __ __ __ __ * (__) __ (__) (__) (__) __ *
(__)(__) __ (__) __ __ (__) __ __ (__)

If you are standing outside of this third pub, there is a riverwalk nearby that has an stairway that leads down to the river. This is where you will want to be when you are deciphering the clues below, as it is very near where the letterbox you seek is located. Happy hunting!!
