*** 7/15/07 *** Replacement box as of today. Happy hunting!

Proctor Farm Conservation Area
160 Conant Street, Danvers MA
www.danvers-ma.org/proctor.htm

Drive east along Route 62, on Poplar Street. At the intersection where Route 62 forks to the right, stay left and continue on Conant Street straight through the intersection. Proctor Farm is the second left after the blinking yellow light.

Take trail near sign with map. Bring your lunch or snack and eat at the green and orange gazebo on your left. (Or carry your lunch into the picnic area along the trail.)

Pass gazebo and go on trail down hill with stone edging. Walk along rocky path through wooded area.

Walk over first wooden bridge and stop to admire the marsh. Walk over second wooden bridge next to the tall reeds.

This drops you into a shady picnic area with great trees to climb. At the far end of the picnic area, take the next wooden bridge. While crossing your fourth wooden bridge (aren't bridges fun?!) you may get a peek off to the right of the meadow and white hay rolls.

Next you will enter this beautiful meadow with a blue arrow at the entrance. Count 220 paces from the blue arrow while walking along the left edge. Look for butterflies!

You will see a sign for "Hickory Trail". Enter the woods onto Hickory Trail. Pass between two trees that are guarding the path. Notice on your left the hollow base of the leaning tree with three trunks!

Careful as you step over roots and moss, leading you to the next wooden bridge.

The trail will end at a T stop. Fromthe sign with the double arrows, take a left and count 100 strides. To your left is a skinny white birch tree. To your right is a group of four trunks that seem to be growing out of the same base.

Continue 30 strides. Stop. Look to your left. There is a tree with a medium sized trunk that is leaning gently to the right.

To the right of the medium trunk is a tree with a smaller trunk with many skinny branches just behind it's base. Walk to this smaller trunk. Peek amongst the skinny branches.

Please hide well and cover!

Continue on the path with the school up ahead. This is a loop that will bring you back to your car.

At the yellow metal gate, take a left onto the trail named "Brook Way". Corss the curvy wooden bridge. Soon you will come to an opening to a paved road and a sign for Sawyer Trail. Take Sawyer Trail to the left.

Soon you will come to another meadow and you should see your car up ahead. Follow along left side of meadow.

Hope you enjoyed letterboxing! We would love to hear from you about your experience finding this letter box.
