Mate for Life
Moore State Park
Clues: Easy. Walk is nice, a few spots of slightly up hill walking. Wear good shoes.

9/17/06 BOX #2 HAS BEEN REPLACED

Please note that there are many boxes in this park so print out a bunch of them and make a day of it. Please be sure to conceal well when you are done stamping in. This box is dedicated to Jeremy, my Lobster Claw, my Mate for Life.

From Worcester: Rte 122 west to Paxton Center. From here,
take Rte. 31 south. The main entrance to the park is on the right about a mile or so from Paxton Center. It’s on Saw Mill Road. Follow the paved road to the parking lot on the left.

After you park, come out to paved road and take a left (no cars are allowed on this section of the road). Do not head up the road past the field.
Walk along, enjoy the scenery. Pretty soon you will see the pond off to the right. Look for the brown “This Park is Managed as a Conservation Area” sign on the left side of the road. From this sign, take about 12-15 steps further down the path. You will come to a path on the right that leads down to the water. From the paved road, take about 15 steps down this path. You will come to a break in the stone wall. Facing the water, look to the right. About four feet down on this side of the wall, you will find box 1# tucked in between a rock, covered with sticks and leaves. (Note: It will be on the side of the wall facing the water, not under the big bush hanging over the wall).
Back up to the main paved road, head further into the park. The pond is on the right. Keep walking until you come to a driveway of sorts on the left. This is actually an old foundation, but the parking area is available for handicap folks. Take a few minutes to check out the foundation. When you are ready to go, stand right in front of the handicap parking sign and face the road. Walk 10 steps to the middle of the parking area and look to the right. You will see a path into the woods. There is a tree on the right side at the beginning of the path, almost marking the corner of the parking area. From this tree, take about 30 steps up the path. You will come to a fairly large rock on the left in between two trees. Walk off the path, to the right of the large rock and the tree behind it. Behind that tree you will see a medium rock, half exposed, half covered with brush. I have concealed box #2 under a small reddish-brown rock right in front of this medium sized rock. Please be sure to rehide well when you are done.
Also-- you are on perfect track to another box, “Sunburst” that rests nearby.
