L easer Lake Leeches
Many unfortunate things happen in NW Lehigh County, including the low level of L easer L ake. This is due to a leaky dam and the PA Fish Commission’s allowing the lake to remain at a lower level to keep further damage from occurring to the dam. On the bright side, this allows a perfect environment for Leeches of the Lachrymose variety.
Begin your adventure at the O ntelaunee R oad parking lot on the north side of the lake. Walk back to the road (it is seldom used beyond the lot) and turn left. The road will curve right and then slightly left and then pass over a large culvert. A small parking area sadly awaits on the left hand side, complete with a distressingly small trail at 200°. 11 paces in from the morose rock barrier, spot a rough barked tree with a morosely twisty tree behind it. The twisty tree hides food holes for a certain insectivorous bird with a hard beak. Cross the meager trickle to a faint trail going SW. Head this way to an Owl Box 33P away. From there 275° and 14P to a V-Tree of joyful life and sorrowful death and finally 245° and 5P to a sadly unsuspicious rock behind a larger (but not huge) rock.
If you do happen to get a case of leeches, do not despair as there may be a Leech Assault Kit nearby.
With Greatest Sympathy,
Lightniny Buget
