12/26/06 A new stamp and box have been placed in spot #1. The clues reflect a change.

9/16/06 new end stamp and logbook placed today since the other was stolen. The clues have changed slightly so please read them again.

Please Note: there is only one logbook and it is in the third box at the end of the series.

This hike took us an hour and that included hiding the boxes, having a snack, finding another box along the way and picking up trash along the trail. It’s about 1.2 miles round trip.

This is our first time hiding boxes and my 8-year old son helped so the clues are easy and the hike is short and easy. We took the easy way for the first time and used store-bought stamps.

Enter Hubbard Park on the road by the duck pond (the pond will be on your right).
Shortly after passing the duck house, a road leads to a parking lot on the left. Park here and start your search at the wooden sign that reads, “Hubbard Park Trails”.
You will be following the white trail. It starts just to the left of the sign.
After a short uphill walk, you will come to a 3-sister oak tree on the left of the path. Take about 15 “tall person” steps at 200º to a 2-sister tree. Take 25 steps at 300º to a single sister tree. Open the door and look inside this tree to find box#1. Please replace it carefully and remember to “close” the door.
Go back to and continue on the white trail. Trails enter from the left. Keep straight on the white. You will cross the red trail. The orange trail will enter form the right. Stay straight on the white trail.
As you near the highway (the noise gets louder), look for a maple tree on the left marked with a white blaze with a wire guard rail through its base. Look to your right, about 350° (just ahead and to the right toward the highway) and see a low boulder. Walk to this rock and look around it to find box #2.
Back on the white trail, continue up a small hill. The trail splits. Take the right side toward the bridge. Cross the metal bridge over the highway. This is I-691. Kids love to stop here and wave to traffic. May not be safe but it’s fun!
At the end of the bridge, turn right and start up a hill. On your right, you’ll find the burnt remains of a car. Standing on the trail and looking up with the car to your right, look into the woods to your left at about 25° and find a pair of rocks that look like a squished face. You will find the last box behind this rock. Please stamp into the log book here.

You can get back to your car by continuing on the white trail. It loops but you are only about ¼ of the way around so it will be a long walk. To get back quicker, turn around and go back the way you came.

The “Dead Bug”, “In Bloom”, "Record Journal" and "Dog Paw" letterboxes are very near here so don’t forget to take those directions too. Also, if you're going to Hubbard Park, check out "Boy Scout Picnic". It can be accessed even when the castle road is closed. When the road is open, there are 3 or 4 more at the top.
