NORTH WOODS FOREST & NATURE TRAIL
Evansville, Indiana
Trail map can be found at: http://sibiketrails.fateback.com/graphics/maps/northwoods4.jpg
In the early 1950’s, Mrs. John L. Igleheart donated to the city 52 acres that is now Igleheart Park. Some of the land was cleared for baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and Lloyd Pool. The remaining 35 acres make up the North Woods Forest and Nature Trail.
To get there, head north on First Avenue, after you pass Central High School, the Lloyd Pool entrance is roughly half a mile up on your right. You’ll see a sign and a dolphin statue. Park in the pool parking lot on your left, the entrance to the nature trail is next to the playground.
From the main entrance, head up the trail, and take your first right. Make a left just after you pass the Toyota rock. Take your next right which should take you up and to the right of the outdoor classroom. Follow the trail straight ahead and over the bridge. Just past the stone marker that points to the Valley Vista trail, you will find the Wildflower Glade. Take a seat and relax on the stone bench to your left. Reach behind and under the center of the bench and you should find what you’re looking for.
