Justice League of America
Earth’s Mightiest Superheroes
Spider Gates Cemetery
Leicester, MA
Clues: Easy
Time: about 45 minutes + stamping time

Reunite the most famous members of the JLA. This series takes you through the infamous Spider Gates Cemetery hidden in the woods of Leicester. Be sure to obey the rules and only go in the day time. It is a very peaceful place with some pretty old stones. While you are there, take along the directions to “Alternate Superhero # 2 “Fleabag” which is also located in the area (to be posted very soon. This is an area of frequent vistors. Please rehide all boxes well.

Take Route 56 North from Leicester center. You will pass the schools and water towers on the right. Pretty soon you will see the legendary Hot Dog Annie’s on the right. I advise stopping in for a quick bit to eat before you set off. You will take the next right about a mile after Hot Dog Annie’s onto Manville Street. This street is not marked with a street sign. (Note if you come to a four way intersection, you have gone too far). Follow Manville St past the reservoirs and past an open area with a hill on the right. Just after this cleared area, you will come to a parking spot on the right side of the road. Park here.
Box #1
There is a road on the other side of the street directly across from where you parked. There is a gate in front of the road to block motorized vehicles. Follow this road down a bit until you come to a green gate on the left. Face this gate and look to the on the ground just to the left of the gate at the large white rock. There is a little ledge on this rock to the left. Box 1# is buried under the rock, covered with smaller rocks.
Box #2
Keep walking down the road, over the brook and look for the wooden fence on the left. From the very end of this wooden fence, take about 16 or 17 steps further down the road to the large oak tree on the right, just off the path a bit. Walk directly behind this tree to the stone wall. In the back of the stone wall at this spot and you will find Box 2 buried under leaves and twigs up against the wall. Continue down the road.
Box #3
Soon you will come to Spider Gates Cemetery on the right. Aren’t the gates amazing? Stand facing the “This is a Private Cemetery” sign right near the main entrance. Look to the left at the large rock on the ground right next to the sign. Just behind it is a smaller rock. From this smaller rock, take about 13-14 steps down the outside of the cemetery wall (which is now on your right side). At about calf height, look for the light colored loose rock with the letterbox behind it. Rehide well!
Box #4
Now, go into the cemetery and look on the right side for the graves of Lizzie Earle and her husband Arthur Church. They are resting side by side sort of by their selves. Stand with your back to Lizzie’s grave and walk six steps down to the stone wall. Under the long flat rock on top is a smaller rock that pulls out. Here is Box #4.
Box #5
Now, walk down to the far end of the cemetery and look for the younger “Southwick” grave stone. Right next to this, you will see a path that runs to the far outer wall of the cemetery. Take this path down and over the rock wall. The path runs down hill and please be careful because it’s a bit rocky and steep in a few spots. As you walk down hill, you will come a large rock/boulder half buried in the ground on the left side of the path. It creates a ledge. Standing in front of the rock, facing up to the cemetery, you will find box #5 tucked up on the left side underneath this rock behind a smaller rectangular rock blocking the box.
We hope you enjoyed this series!
