Alternate Superhero #2: Fleabag
Near Spider Gate Cemetery
Clues: Easy
Difficulty: Moderate, some rocky hills.
Time: about a half hour + stamping time.
This letterbox journey takes you through the infamous Spider Gates Cemetery in Leicester MA. Please be respectful and only hunt for this box in the day time. Be sure to take the directions for the Justice League Series also placed along the way..
Take Route 56 North from Leicester center. You will pass the schools and water towers on the right. Pretty soon you will see the legendary Hot Dog Annie’s on the right. You will take the next right about a mile after Hot Dog Annie’s onto Manville Street. This street is not marked with a street sign. (Note if you come to a four way intersection, you have gone too far). Follow Manville St past the reservoirs and past an open area with a hill on the right. Just after this cleared area, you will come to a parking spot on the right side of the road. Park here.
Cross the street (carefully) and walk around the gate. Follow the dirt road down until you reach the cemetery. Enter in the cemetery and walk all the way to the far end. Look for the younger “Southwick” stone. There is a path right near this stone that take you to the farthest stone wall. Follow the path over the stone wall and all the way down the hill until you reach the brook. Take a left and follow the path down next to the brook (which is on your right) This can be a bit marshy in some spots. Soon you will come to an area where the brook pools and rushes off to the right. At this spot keeping following the path up a short little rock hill. At the top of this hill, you could either go right and follow the brook or go left into the woods. Take a LEFT and walk 20-21 steps down the path (you will cross over a downed tree). You will now have a cluster of very young trees just on your left. Buried in the middle of this cluster, under twigs is “Fleabag”. Be sure to rehide well and cover it up with the twigs and leaves.
