Pflugerville’s Fallen

Pflugerville is a bedroom community just north of Austin and just off of I- 35. One of its best features is a series of paved hike and bike trails running through much of the city. The box is on one of the many trails. The terrain is easy.

To get there:

To get there from I-35:
Take the FM 1825 exit. Head east on FM1825, which will turn north very soon after exiting from I-35 and then twist and turn a couple of times as it becomes Pecan Street. Continue down Pecan Street to Railroad Avenue. Turn left (North) onto Railroad and continue a few blocks until you reach the entrance of Gilleland Creek Park.

To get there from Highway 130:
Take the Pecan street exit. Go west on Pecan (FM 1825) until you reach Railroad Avenue. Turn right (North) onto Railroad and continue a few blocks until you reach the entrance of Gilleland Creek Park.

Letterbox clues.
From the Gilleland Creek Park parking lot take the paved hike and bike west past the pool. Continue across the footbridge over Gilleland Creek. Upon crossing the creek you have entered Pfluger Park. Directly in front of you stands the statue of Pflugerville’s fallen.

Stand with the flag pole at your back facing south. Walk 63 paces to the tree on the left of the walk. At the base of the tree under a flat rock is your prize.

This is a high traffic area at times. Please be stealthy and discreet.
