NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Rockwood Park

General: 3401 Courthouse Road. Park in the Nature Center parking lot. All boxes are located near the dual use trail and it is suitable for all strollers including double strollers. Dogs on leashes are also welcome on the trail. Begin your hunt on the Dual Use Trail which begins at the far end of the parking lot from the Nature Center.

Box 1 - Take the dual use trail past shelter 1. You will also pass a restroom and a fitness stop. About 20 paces before the dirt walking trail intersects the main dual use trail look for a stump on the right side of the trail. Here you may find a glimpse of the ancient king.

Box 2 - Back on the main dual use trail. Pass Shelter 2, the ¼ mile marker and the fitness station. Then proceed along trail and look on the right side of the trail for a hollow tree. When you are next to it look across the trail to the left to find a large and stately tree which might serve as a perch to an ancient high flyer.

Box 3 - Stay on the trail past the fitness center the ½ mile mark. Cross the stream and climb the first large hill. At the top you might see a bridge below to the right. Nearby on the left is a hollow stump. Inside you might find the print of a large herbivore.

Continuing on the trail will bring you back to the nature center lot. There are side trails you could take if you wish an even longer walk.

Upkeep: 2 Boxes and all baggies replaced 10/14. Please rehide carefully and have fun!

Upkeep: May 13th, 2007. All boxes found exposed completely. Rehidden in proper locations. All logbooks and stamps present. PLEASE PLEASE recover the boxes with leaves and bark as they are currently. If you find them exposed please recover. If you are squeamish you might want to carry gloves. Thanks!
