SORRY - THESE BOXES ARE MISSING!
They were earlier lost and then found in the Chicken Fountain by a kind WU student! Now they are gone again!
Please let us know if they magically resurface.

For years, Willamette University’s M.A.T. program has been a leader in teacher preparation. The M.A.T. Aspire program at Willamette allows future teachers to schedule into and around their current life a graduate program that will let them earn a Masters of Art in Teaching and an Oregon Initial Teaching License in two years. The program prepares teachers as educational leaders, with an emphasis on reflection, student-centered instruction, collaboration and sensitivity to diversity and culture

These two letterboxes were created by a Guide Group of the ’08 Cohort from the Willamette University M.A.T. Aspire Program. We hope you enjoy this letterboxing adventure on our university’s campus!

Clues to box #1:
Visit the Martha Springer Botanical Garden on the Willamette University Campus in Salem. The garden is located behind the Sparks Athletic Center (which is just off the main parking lot – adjacent to the soccer field). This garden is a beautiful oasis in the city and ‘a place for leisure learning.’

Directly south of the information kiosk you will see a wood bench near the back wall of Sparks. Sit here to enjoy the sights and sounds of this wonderful garden. Behind the front left leg of this bench you will find the first letterbox.

Clues to box #2:
Continue to explore the botanical garden. Following the gravel paths to the east, you will pass a set of large windows that overlook the indoor swimming pool. Keep walking and you will come to a large waterfall surrounded by ‘Coastal Natives.’ Across from this rocky area you will see a cedar log bench in the Bird & Butterfly Garden. Again, sit and enjoy the great scenery. The second letterbox is hidden under a rock near the left support of this bench.

Please re-hide these letterboxes carefully, as the groundskeepers at Willamette do an amazing job of caring for this garden and will quickly find these boxes unless we too use care. Thanks!
