LOGAN ELM MEMORIAL Park
Terrain: Pretty darn flat
Time: Less than 20 minutes after you park.
Distance: Less than 250 yards from car to quest and back again and maybe shorter, depending on where you park.
Please bring your stamp, a stamp pad, pen and an old rag to wipe off the box/your hands.
Head south out of Circleville on H.W. 22 for ~ 7 miles (~ 12 miles N. of Chillicothe) and then turn east on 361 and go a mile or two until you see the monuments on your left. You will find the gate at the east end of the park. Once in the park find the flagpole, then the Ohio Historical Marker, Logans Speech Monument and then look northwest and you will see the plaque (and a small elm) for the original site of the Logans Elm where Chief Logan of the Mingoes tribe gave a historic speech.. Go to Logans Elm and stand facing the plaque. Read the plaque and then take a heading between 310* and 320* and head toward the fence and the double trunked tree going about 31 steps. Get over, under or through the fence and go around back of the tree and find the Mingoes Totem Pole under a rock....being discrete that no one is watching as you perform this manuver. Perform the stamping procedure at the bench or shelter or right there behind the tree if you wish but please, please place the log in one baggie and seal it well, place that baggie and the stamp in the other baggies and seal it well and then put this combination in the pouch and rehide it well under that rock behind the tree. I hope you brought the clues for the other letterboxes in this park as there are several and I hope you have fun hunting for all these boxes. Please be considerate and try and to preserve the boxes for future finders. Thanks a bunch and keep promoting letterboxing throughout this region. Safari Man
