New location--moved May 2009.
Prentice Park is a city run park on the West side of Ashland. Artesian wells in the park run fairly directly into Lake Superior. The water runs year-round, and is home to waterfowl when all else is frozen. Bring a drinking cup and fill up before you go!
To find this box, park at the Harry Oran Pavillion in Prentice Park. Follow the asphalt path North to a wooden boardwalk. Take the first ramp to the right down to two flowing (artesian) wells. Walk between the wells to an Eastbound trail. Follow the trail past marker posts "34" and "36" and a third well to a wooden foot-bridge. The box is hidden SSW of the picnic table in a group of mature birch trees.
