Pine Creek Horned Lizard
To find the Horned Lizard of Pine Creek, you will enter the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and drive along the scenic drive until you reach the Pine Creek Canyon hiking trail. It is about 3/4 of the way around the scenic drive and will be on the right side of the road.
From the parking lot, you will start at the Pine Creek Canyon trailhead and head south. When you get to the fork in the trail, head to the right, going down. Continue along the trail until you reach the wash. On your right will be a mesquite tree in the wash. Staying on the trail, continue 25 steps at 250 degrees. You will see a small rocky hill on your right, it is only about 3-4 feet high. Climb up and look to 330 degrees. From here you will see a large boulder 20 steps away. At the base of that boulder, under the NW corner, you’ll find the Horned Lizard. Please rehide well.
