Watering Can in Big Lagoon State Park
Our first Letterbox!
Big Lagoon State Park
$4 admission fee-includes lots of trails, restrooms, swimming on the beaches, playground.
Follow the main road to the parking lot for the Amphitheater and Education Center.
Cross the road...see the animal tracks... and follow the trail. It slowly moves towards the right and alongside Grand Lagoon Lake. As you reach the lake you will see the remnants of a picnic shelter. A reminder of Hurricane Ivan in Sept 2004 no doubt. This park suffered extensive damage and is still being rebuilt even as we place this box two years later!!
Very close to the shelter there is a small patch of sago palms and tall pines. Look for the old tree with the 2 v's (as my children describe it). You will find the box at the base of the tree.
