Introduction:
The ranch house you can see from this box was built by Daniel Courchaine in 1867. It took 1 year to bring lumber from Walla Walla, WA and 10 years to finish the house. The road was the main N-S route for the area going to Walla Walla, it was called “The Mullen Road’ after the army officer who built it, later named Linke Rd after a prominent family up the road. The ranch was 640 acres, and bought from chief Saltese in 1867. The “Milk House” was built next to a spring, it’s water flows thru a trough inside the milk house, then out thru a hole into the creek. Containers of milk were placed in the trough for cooling. The ranch is no longer in the family, a condition of the sale required that the house, as seen from the road, would be unchanged. The monument gives more history about Daniel’s son George.
Getting you close:
Exit 293, south on Barker, right on 32nd, left on Linke, just past Spokane Valley Archery, (you may need to park here and walk the rest of the way). Look for the stone historic monument on left.
The Box:

Please rehide well, sprinkle some needles on the rocks to make it look natural.
Hope you enjoyed the hunt. Since we don’t live in the area, we can’t check on this box very often. We appreciate an update on it’s status. Thank you.
