-- There are 2 boxes at Woodend --
8940 Jones Mill Rd Chevy Chase(Woodend, Audubon Sanctuary)
From 495/Beltway take exit 33 South on Conn Avenue.
Left at Manor Road and right at Jones Bridge when you do.
Follow to the T, then left onto Jones Mill Road.
It's almost time to get started breaking the code.
When you see the entrance turn left off Jones Mill.
Proceed up the drive to the top of the hill.
Near the Manor house parking you should come to a stop.
If you have time find a map in the Audubon gift shop.
Box #1 Audubon
From the Gift Shop head toward a paved parking lot to the North
Note the massive and ancient Blue Atlas tree ahead as you go forth
Once there you should be able to see a composting display
Walk carefully between the bins to find a brick walkway
Just down the hill is a terraced children's learning garden
Below that you should walk to a small stone pond in a glen
The Sunken Garden pond may be murky but the letter box is near
If you look to the North your way to the prize will be clear
Fifteen paces you must go - aiming for a large flat boulder
To the left a tall pine tree while bamboo guards the right shoulder
The box is hidden beneath some leaves under the heavy stone
Bend down and remove the treasure but be sure you are alone.
Stamp, replace and recover before heading back to the Gift Shop
It is from there that you can begin the journey to the second stop
Box #2 Woodend
Orient yourself from the Gift Shop, for it's South you must go.
Past Tulip Poplars and the path through the meadow.
Follow some wooden framed steps to the path by the stream bed
If you look sharp an old well can be seen in the woods just ahead.
Cross the stream bed, which may be dry, and turn left at the split
See the "birdnest" on your right as you head down the trail just a bit.
Follow the the stream bed all the way to the pond on your left
You may see a frog if you walk quietly as though planning a theft
Take a look from the walkway but don't cross over yet
Below the pond find a bridge so you won't get wet.
Cross it and look left to spy a ruin of stone,
A former icehouse's foundation standing alone.
Facing the stream the prize is hidden in the front wall to the right
From inside the ruin look under the big rock near the corner at knee height
Now that you have stamped and rehidden the box enjoy
the walk back uphill to the store and parking area!
