The recreation park located on the west side of Three Lakes is named in honor of Three Lakes long time resident Don Burnside. Mr. Burnside was a member of the Three Lakes Lion Club and a true friend of the people and community of Three Lakes.
Don Burnside Park has tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a picnic shelter and a playground. It is an especially busy place each year on the Fourth of July when it hosts music, food and beverages, a large flea market and lots of fun. In the evening it is a location of a beautiful fireworks display. Hope you get a chance to use and enjoy Don Burnside Recreation Park.
Travel west of Three Lakes on Hwy A. You will see the large wooden sign for the Park. Turn into the park and follow the paved road until you reach the picnic shelter. Locate the fieldstone chimney on the end of the picnic shelter. With your back to the middle of the chimney and your compass reading 0 degrees (or North) look across the flea market field locate and walk to a wire mesh held by three boards. Directly behind this you will see a large group of trees covered with barnacles. Walk behind these trees and locate the evergreen tree nestled tight against the popple tree. Seek The Lone Wolf within its branches.
