Introduction:
2 cents - Just a Bike Ride Series, Day 7
This days ride was 58 miles and included peddling over Blue Mountain Summit before reaching Walla Walla. Was it a coincidence that they both were assigned to duties on the same day? That morning she loaded everyone’s bags into the sag wagon, which meant she would leave camp last. He was assigned to ride “sweep” that day, which means he would ride out last in the group to make sure everyone made it to that night’s pit stop. Since he and she were typically last to get make it in from the day’s ride, it was not really a change.
As was now the norm they would miss the 5pm meeting to discuss traffic issues, safety, lunch spots for the next day’s ride. The rest of the riders were used to seeing them ride in late, they too were beginning to notice that the two appeared to be developing a relationship. Having arrived too late to visit Pioneer Park. So, he reminisced of his youth. How years ago Pioneer Park had a novel idea for feeding the ducks and other fowl. They had grain dispensing machines. It cost 2 cents for a handful of wheat.
