NOTE: THIS BOX IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REMADE
I hope that the day that you choose to find our letterbox is sunny and beautiful at Henry Schuette Park. As you arrive, you will see the Community Built Playground at the top of the hill. Just around the corner from the park is a long driveway down a pretty steep incline. At the bottom of the hill, there is a parking lot for you to park your car while you enjoy your excursion. There are two routes to the letterbox. Choose whichever pleases you!

Route #1

At the base of the road leading into the park, you will see a sign that says Henry Schuette Park. This sign also has a map of the park on it. Just off to the left of the sign, you will see a trail that follows the river. Take that trail. Ignore several small trails that lead off to the left and right every once in a while (you will be able to tell which is the main path, it is pretty obvious). Continue on that path, which meanders through the woods and along the river. Look out for goose droppings on the trail! You can usually see ducks or geese paddling gracefully around in the river. Enjoy the scenery and the unmistakable scents of the woods. Stay on the path until you reach a footbridge. Stop at the footbridge and quietly call the name of the troll that lives underneath it (his name is Chief). If he is not feeling too shy, he’ll come out for a visit. You must stay quiet though, or you will scare him. Cross the footbridge. Continue up the very steep main trail (again, ignoring other small trails off to the right). Once you get to the top of the hill, you will see two trails off to the right. Continue on the main trail to your left, with the exercise bench up ahead. Just beyond the exercise bench you will come to some steps. Continue on the trail until you see very large steps going down a big hill (at this point, you can see a large portion of Schuette park and the river). You may sit on the yellow bench for a while and enjoy the view if you’ll like. Otherwise, continue on the trail down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, you will see a sign that says exer-trail. Ignore several paths towards the river, and again, stay on the main trail. Continue on this trail until you come to a bench near the woods. You will see the trail take a sharp right. Do not turn right. Straight ahead you will see some stairs that lead up onto the woods. Once on top of the stairs, you will need to again ignore a path to your left, and go down some stairs. At the bottom of the stairs you should stop! Take a look to your left. You will see a large tree with a fallen tree right next to it. The large tree has a large “hole” in it that would make a cozy home for some little critters. Beware of any spiders or snakes as you look inside for the box. Hint: Leaves make good “blankets”. Happy hunting!!

Route #2

Now that you are at the bottom of the hill in the parking lot, walk to the furthest edge of the lot. You will see a gravel road leading into the park. The road is chained off so no cars can drive in there. Walk around the chain and continue walking up the gravel road. You will be able to catch some glimpses of the river once in a while. You will trudge up a long, slow incline. At the top of the hill, the road curves to your right. Stay on the road until you see a gazebo off to your left. Take the path that runs past the gazebo. Up ahead, you will see a fork in the path. The far right path takes you to a bench for sight seeing. Go ahead and sit down if you’re tired. Either of the other two paths will take you to some stairs. When you reach the stairs, turn right and continue down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, you will see a sign that says exer-trail. Ignore several paths towards the river, and again, stay on the main trail. Continue on this trail until you come to a bench near the woods. You will see that trial take a sharp right. Do not turn right. Straight ahead you will see some stairs that lead into the woods. You are going to want to go up the stairs into the woods. Once on top of the stairs, you will again need to ignore a path to your left, and go down some stairs. At the bottom of the stairs you should stop! Take a look to your left. You will see a large tree with a fallen tree right next to it. The large tree has a big “hole” in it that would make a cozy home for some little critters. Beware of any spiders or snakes as you look inside for the box. Hint: Leaves make good “blankets”. Happy Hunting!!
