Head into Columbia, Illinois using south bound Illinois Route 3.
Turn left on North Main Street and continue south.
Continue approximately 1 mile, turn left on Kunz Street.
Go 1 block to North Metter, turn right on North Metter.
The Columbia Public Library will be on your left. Park in any available spot.
Visit our library. The Columbia Public Library has been in service since 1951. Compared to the major St. Louis Libraries, ours holds its own but better because the librarians will know your name!
Go to the card catalog and look up the location for a book titled "At Dawn We Slept" by Gordon W. Prange. This book is about the fateful day of December 7, 1941 when the Japanese launched a surprise attack on America in Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor, much like Ground Zero in New York, serve as living symbols of America's lack of alertness at times. If you have difficulty locating this book, think "History" as the sign that will guide you.
Once you have found this book, count down 4 shelves. Scan this new shelf for a book that does not belong to the library. (the clue is on the spines of the books) Open this book and you will find the letterbox!
