The early spring 1962
Young lovers were unsure of what to do.
Seven miles north from Abingdon
They found a small town with a meadow and view.

“Let’s stop here”, cooed Peggy, “Please”.
“Let’s have some burgers with cheese.”
Her boyfriend Bill drove to the square.
To Ryan’s, found a spot to park, it was a squeeze.

After their meal, a drive to distract.
Out of the square and over the tracts.
A friend named Walker pointed them left.
Around a sharp curve to a steep hill in the back
of a small country church.

They followed Ryan up to the right.
The view of the mountains, from here, a delight.
“Oh, look, another church.” Peggy pointed out.
“And a small, gravel road, let’s turn there.” Left, not right.

When suddenly a beautiful log house came in sight.
Bill knew that to turn left was right.
Barely a trail, they followed now.
Past one long house on the right, up a small height.

A miniscule wood, they now could see.
A drive in the middle, between tall trees.
At the corner of drive and trail
One large tree, to it they did sail.

Behind the tree, snuggled up tight,
They held hands and kissed through the night.
If you are adept and follow the clues.
You may find them yet, what have you got to loose?
