Southbound lane of I-77
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 15 minutes. Distance ~ 100 yards round trip
Please bring your stamp, a stamp pad, compass, pen and an old rag to wipe off the box/your hands.

The "Safari Man- On The Highway/ and Interstate" series depicts things one might see as they drive the highways of the U.S. These are targeted mainly for rest stops but might pop up anywhere. This letterbox is titled GONE CAMPING. Happy traveling!

Pull into the rest stop off of the southbound lane of I 77 past the 37 mm. Go to the far end of the car parking and park. Find the set of wooden stairs going up to the picnic tables not far away and head on up. Go to the end of the paved path and continue bending to the left to the very last table up there. Place your compass on the S.E. end of the table and look at the 190* heading. Go that way about 22 steps and you should be at a large tree encircled by smaller trees. The SMALL CAMPER is hidden behind the mother tree under sticks. Unobserved, retrieve the letterpouch and head for that picnic table to do the stamping (if this or the other table is occupied you might want to skip this letterbox today) When done stamping please replace the log book in a baggie and seal it well and then take that baggie and place it and the stamp in the other baggie and seal it well. Since the pouch is not waterproof we need both un punctured baggies well sealed to keep the log book dry for future boxers. Please return the baggie to the pouch and the pouch, unobserved, to the tree , well hidden where you found it. I hope you are now rested and ready to resume your travels and will drop me a line telling me the condition of the box and any other constructive comments you might have, once you get home. Thanks, Safari Man
