Mianus River Park Letterbox
By: The River Keepers

Finding this letterbox will take you off the beaten path in a popular suburban park.

Clues:

From exit 4 of Interstate 95, head north to Route 1 (AKA the Post Rd.). Cross Route 1 onto Old Post Rd. #6. Turn left onto Stanwich Rd. and go about 3.5 miles. Turn right on Cognewaug Rd., and go .5 mile to parking lot on left. From the parking lot, follow the main trail. After skirting around the swamp on your right, go left on the Oak Trail. At post #9, bear right on side path keeping to the right of a small brook. Turn right and ascend up a rough, rocky trail to a cave. From the cave, find the highest point of land above the cave (the easiest route is to the right of the cave). Make sure you are on the highest point of land above the cave! Standing on the high point, look for a small hole (1/8th of an inch) in the rock about six feet southwest from the high point. Standing directly above this hole, look through a fork in a nearby black birch tree (east/southeast). Through a clearing in the trees, you should see a statue of balanced stones about 75 yards away. Make you way carefully over to the statue. Standing with your back to the statue, walk south (190º) to the top of a rounded rock outcropping (about 12 paces). Turn sharp left and go east (80º) about six paces. Find your prize behind a small trapezoid shaped stone!!!
