<2 miles off I-80 - don't mistake the nearby geocache for the letterbox.

Full size box - ink included.

This beautiful bridge, built in 1863, is one of six remaining covered bridges in Illinois and the only one still open to regular vehicle traffic. So, watch out for cars.

From I-80, take exit 56 and head toward Ronald Reagan's
boyhood home. You'll soon see the sign that points the
way. Stay on the hard road. Park under the triple light
and walk toward the bridge. Pause to read the unusual
sign overhead. It's twin is on the other end. Note all of the numbers on both signs (important info). Cross the bridge and admire its construction. The tablet to the west tells its story.

Now let's get down to business. Add up all of the
numbers collected earlier, walk north from the tablet on the east/west planks--the secret lies beneath. Choose the eastern path (west side is private property) and watch your step (could be muddy). Look up, not down! Be sure to admire the Bureau Creek passing by and throw in a line if time allows. Please enjoy the contents and let us know what you think of our first letterbox hide.
