This box is a super easy find, once you get up to the top of the mountain. Distance up the mountain depends on where you park and which trails you choose to get up there, but on average about 2-3 miles. It is a fairly rigorous and steep hike at points, but overall probably a medium level of intensity. This is our first time making a box, but we plan on checking it regularly

The hike begins about 2 miles East of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces on University Ave. at the base of “A” mountain. Hike up to the “A” on the mountain using any one of the various roads and paths leading up to it. When you get to the A, stand at the tip of the large white rock that forms the top of the “A” and look out at the view of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Take about 9 paces to your South (left) towards the small gravel lookout area. Look South West. You should see one large rock to your right and a large cluster of rocks on the left. There is a Yucca plant right behind the left cluster of rocks. Take 12 paces towards that left cluster of rocks. In the center of the cluster of rocks there is a little cluster of smaller rocks. Carefully remove these rocks, being cautious of snakes and other creatures. You should see a small square plastic box with a strip of duct tape around it. Stamp and sign the book, then carefully re-hide the letterbox (closed securely), making sure none of it can be seen, since this is a well traveled hike.
