This letterbox is located in Lincoln Woods Wildlife Sanctuary.

Directions:

Take Route 2 to Route 12 (exit 31A). Follow Route 12 south for 1.5 miles through Leominster Center. Take a left at City Square onto Central Street (continuation of Route 12). Just beyond the intersection of Route 12 and Route 117, turn right off Route 12 onto Union Street. The sanctuary is 0.7 miles ahead on the left, marked by a Mass Audubon sign.

Enter the path after reading about Miss Elizabeth Lincoln. The path bends to the left immediately, follow the bend and continue straight ahead. Follow the blue blazed trail as the path bears right and narrows after about 2-4 minutes. You will come to a brook or dry streambed depending on the weather or season (it was wet when we planted the letterbox), cross over and continue on the path uphill. The trail flattens out again and after another few minutes you will begin to see house roof tops appear. Follow the trail behind two houses and stop when their fences end. You will see the Lassie League Softball Field on the left. Proceed to the next large pine tree on the left of the trail after the fences end. Turn right, walk about 20 steps off the trail. You will reach a moss covered rotted tree pile with a stump on the right. There is a two trunked birch tree in front of the pile and a birch tree behind and on the left of this pile. Part of the moss covered trunk appears to be pointing to the left (almost saying, “Get back on that Trail!”). The box is behind the point beneath some sticks and leaves. Return to your car the same way you came.
