The West Arlington covered bridge is one of several covered bridges that crosses the Batten Kill as it winds its way from Vermont into New York before meeting up with the Hudson. Bring a picnic and your bathing suit, as this is a popular local swimming hole. There are picnic tables on the green, with some large maple trees for shade.

Directions: From VT Route 7a, take Route 313 app. 3 miles west to the West Arlington covered bridge. Cross the Batten Kill on the bridge and park near the green. From New York, take Route 313 east from NY Route 22 in Cambridge. West Arlington is app. 2 miles from the state border.

Clues:

The river runs along the green, such a pretty sight be seen.
Toward New York you wish to go, in the direction of water flow.
To where the corn and green do meet, and river, too, oh so neat.
A path you see to river flow, a downed tree past do not go.
A farmer's stone pile tells you're near, at the maple's SW, a box so dear.
Under field and river stones it hides, be sure you stamp on both sides!
