From the junction of routes 187 and 20 go north on 187 for about a mile. Turn left into the parking lot for the East Granby Recreation Area North Entrance.
After parking the car, head uphill to the map board telling you that this is a Brian Spears Eagle Trail, then go downhill on the wide mowed path, staying straight through a swampy area into another field, bearing right along the tree line and into the woods to pick up red blazes. Follow red the whole way. At the Y follow the red arrow uphill, pass through a stonewall, then look on the right for a chimney of a long ago cabin. There are signs of ATV's along here but soon the trail narrows and REALLY goes uphill. Watch on the left for a rock outcropping and then on the right for a mossy rock ledge with a downed tree in front of it. Step over a section of this tree to the back of the ledge and look near a gnarly end of a tree that fell long ago for a Meta-Skunk (P-U).
Continue to the crest of the hill, followed by another lesser hill to an arrow pointing left. Go straight on an unmarked trail about 65 steps to a Y intersection, turn right and walk into the woods (bush whacking) for 40 steps to the end of a rock ledge (not seen from the trail) to find a Meta-Fox in it's den.
