After only one day, two boxes are confirmed missing. The fourth and fifth boxes (cow and farmer Jack) have been moved by an industrius racoon, I think. However, the remaining clues should still lead one to the log book which is in box 6. Follow the clues after finding the octopus stump. I will replace the two missing boxes when I can.

The House That Jack Built is a series of 6 boxes. Only the last box has a log book. The poem I have created to go along with this series is based very loosely on one I remember as a child. (that was a long time ago).
The series of boxes are located in a conservation area managed by the Opacum Trust. The Opacum Woods Letterbox is located in the same area, and if you haven't done it yet, you could do the House That Jack Built first and then continue on the trail and do the Opacum Woods box.
To get to the area, from the Mass. Pike, exit at the Sturbridge exit and take exit 3B off of I84 which is the first exit you encounter. From I84, take exit 3B which is the last exit before the Mass. Pike. Go west on Rt. 20 for .6 miles and turn onto New Boston Rd. Follow New Boston Rd. for about .3 miles and turn onto Preserve Way and follow this to Audubon Way. Follow Audubon Way to Old Brook Circle. The Opacum Woods trail system is at the end of Old Brook Rd. There is a lot of construction in this area. Drive with care. Look down the embankment for the start of the trails.
You will start on a green marked trail. Follow it to a Y intersection where you turn right, down a hill and cross a bridge. Turn right onto the blue trail right after the bridge. Follow this trail for five to seven minutes till you encounter the yellow trail on your right. Follow this.

As the yellow trail winds downhill, you will come to a fallen tree which touches the left side of the trail. At 45 degrees, just a few feet from the base of the tree, at the base of a silver birch tree, sits the mouse.

Moving on, you will pass a swamp on your right, then begin to climb away from the swamp. Part way up the hill you should encounter a 12 foot tall, broken stump of a tree, next to a yellow marked small tree. Fifty paces from this point you will find a marked tree on both sides of the trail. On your left, about 5 paces off the trail is a large rock. The cat is hiding here on the right side.

As you continue down the yellow trail, walking through a pine forest, you should soon encounter an opening through a stone wall. On the right side of the trail, about 8 paces up the left side of the wall is a tree with a hollow base. The dog is napping in this hollow.

As you continue on the yellow trail, you will pass more swamp on the right, and see some houses through the trees. Soon you shall reach a trail junction. The trail that goes straight ahead is unmarked. The yellow trail turns left. Follow the yellow. Count 28 paces from the junction to a yellow marked tree on your left. Directly behind this tree is a huge evergreen tree. A cow is lurking behind it.

Moving on on the yellow, you will cross a wet area and begin ascending a hill. You will encounter a marked tree on your left and directly across the trail is a jumble of large boulders. Farmer Jack is resting behind the largest rock on the SE side toward the back.

Continue uphill. At the crest notice the octopus stump on the left of the trail. A few paces further and a trail comes in from the right. Continue on yellow. A rock outcropping is on the left side. Watch for a large 4 sister oak tree on the left. In back of the tree is an opening in the rock ledge. The House That Jack Built is in this ledge. Log in here.
Continue on yellow for about another 8 minutes. The blue trail comes in on the left. You can either take the blue trail left here and return to the start or you can continue straight ahead and do the Opacum Woods Letterbox, picking up the clues at "at the second meeting of the yellow trail".
Look for further boxes in the Jack series.
