Historic Cannonsburg Village in Murfreesboro is the location of weddings, the annual Uncle Dave Macon Days festival, and Pioneer Days. Uncle Dave was an early regular on the Grand Ole Opry. What could be a better place for a party animal like our Hoedowning Heifer than here. Before finding her, though, you must find some numbers and do some counting in and around historic Cannonsburg. As you tour Cannonsburg, find the world’s largest red cedar bucket, Anderson’s Shop, a millhouse, a caboose, and an anvil’d gate. After seeing the sites, and enjoying a bit of 'Boro history, return to the Cannonsburg Trailhead for the Murfreesboro Greenway. Begin walking down the trail and make the curve. A gathering of 4 trunks is near the the picnic tables. Stand one step west of the two hugging trunks. Remember the order of operations rules from pre-algebra? Use those to find the remainder of the directions.

(G times A)/10 - 3(M+W+6)= your compass reading.

G= gallons held by cedar bucket
A= number of anvils on metal gate
M= number of METAL wheels on side of Anderson’s Shop
W= number of windows on the 2nd floor of the millhouse

The number of single steps to take in that direction is C-100. One step away is your quest under the NE lip.

C=Number on side of L&N Caboose

This spot is in the open, and there is much foot traffic in this area, so use stealth and diversionary tactics to keep this letterbox from being discovered by non-boxers, like having the retriever pose for a picture seated at the spot. Little to no room for hitchhikers, and bring your own ink. This letterbox is placed with the approval of the City of Murfreesboro Parks Department.
