The beaches of Quintata Roo are an important nesting habitat for marine sea turtles, this is a wonderful opportunity for you do see these graceful swimmers in their own habitat. The reef just 50 feet from this letterbox is a wonderful place to snorkel.

TURTLES NEST

From Cancun Airport you must travel south 60 miles. After making the left turn to Akumal, you will know that you have arrived when you see the arch entering the city. From the arch you will see the statue of Gonzalo Guerreo straight ahead. Take the path to the left of the statue. You will come to the Centro Ecologico Akumal, walk inside and discover some of the wonders of the Rivera Maya. Staying left you will see Las Casitas Akumal, continue down the white sandy path to the harbor. The cannons are keeping watch over Akumal Bay. Keep walking until you count 5 cannons. After the 5th cannon there is a planter at the end of the path. Look inside of the planter under chunks of white coral for the Turtles Nest. This was our first stamp. Kind of primitive, but found in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works- Ps.105:31
