Nestled between McMinnville and Sparta in Warren County Tennessee, you will find the scenic Rock Island State Park.

From McMinnville, travel East on HWY 70S/1 toward Sparta. Look for brown signs for Rock Island State Park. Turn left toward the community of Rock Island. Turn left under the arch and follow 287 to the entrance of the park. Turn right to enter the park .

Just before entering the State Park, see the sign to go to Twin Falls. Turn right here and drive across the one way wood road over the dam, then follow the signs 1.5 miles to Twin Falls Overlook on the gravel road. (I am told you can no longer drive across the road over the dam, but it is easy to find your way around.) Park in the parking area and then walk down the rough, rocky path at the end of the parking area that leads down to the water. Before you get to the bottom see a trail that leads off to the right, take this trail to the right, walking parallel to the water. Take this trail about 1/4 mile, stepping over a line of rocks on the trail to direct water (when present), step over a rotted tree. Be on the look out for man-made woods stairs that lead up to a cave on the cliff to the right. About half way to the wood stairs, see a pile of boulders on the right about 10 steps off the path. The box is under the boulder in this pile on the side closest to the cliff. It's covered by a smaller flat rock.

When done letterboxing.. go back to the original trail and make your way all the way down to the bottom of the original trail. Check out the amazing falls from the bottom.

Fyi, when we went it was December (no leaves to block the view of the wood stairs). If you go when it's warm, the landmarks may be different. I guess you would be looking for a social trail that leads off to the right from the main trial.
