This letterbox was created by third and fourth graders at Derby Elementary School in Derby Line,Vt. Letterboxing was an after school program. The children went and found letterboxes in the area which amounted to 3!! So...we decided to place more closer to home. The stamps which they created were taken from the Kids section on the letterboxing website. We made stamps from the corn cushions and the art gum erasers. The art gum eraser stamps are the ones in our letterboxes. The children did ALL of the carving. They were extremely proud of their work.
So...here are your clues.
Take I-91 north to exit 28.
Turn right onto US Rt. 5.
You will come to a fork in the road. The Cow Palace Restaurant will be in front of you. Turn right onto Main Street, Derby. Follow Main Street to a large bridge. Do not cross the bridge. Take a right onto Bridge Street down to the parking area of the Clyde River Park.
Beginning at the picnic table, walk down to river's edge. Follow the river to the right. Before you get to the two white birch trees look down under 2 rocks beyond the burdock bush. There you will find our treasure!
