Idaho History 103
Allow about 2 hours,,, very scenic and uphill.
Find this spot in history:
It was wartime and following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States government was in need of a safe inland Naval Training Station. This spot fulfilled all the criteria with one of the deepest lakes in the county, available acreage, and remote enough for safety concerns but near enough a railroad to get supplies and recruits to the station.

Today this spot is an Idaho State Park. Use any state highway map to locate the park and proceed there.

Within this state park there is a Boy Scout created ‘pool’ which is one of the most higly used spots of the park today. This swim area is named after the rodent that brought mountain men to the Rocky mountains.
Once you have found this area you will take the trail on the right side of the bay.
Follow this trail on around the next bay(Buttonhook). After the dock make sure you take the lower trail around along the shoreline. Here the trail continues. Using the trail markers hike up the trail until you see the sign telling you are now on the Highpoint trail.
Travel upwards past the two viewpoints(unmarked, bring your camera). You will proceed until you arive at the flat clearing. Stop here.
Near the trail there will be a large uprooted tree. Stand with your back to the root portion of the tree. Walk from the root in the direction of 2 o’clock. In about fiftenn paces you come upon a samll rock pile. Notice the enourmous fallen tree to the right. Can’t miss it. Peek a boo under the tree for the box.
