This letterbox is about 5 miles from Interstate 80. If traveling I80 take exit #1 (Savanna & East Moline) Turn west (onto Hwy 84) towards East Moline.

You will drive through the town of Hampton keep going, just as you enter into East Moline you will see a yellow sign indicating Campbells Island, turn right onto the island.

You will come to a "T" intersection turn left and go just less than a mile you will see a huge monument on the left side of the road, turn into the parking area.

Please take your time, walk around the monument and read the history that took place right here at this spot. Take your time, don't rush, as you look at every detail of the picture on the monument. Observe the cannon that are there pointing toward the Mississippi.

There is a silver sign towards the river, go and read the sign -- I just think it's neat.

When I was first scouting out this site for a letterbox it was very cold and raining, I was freezing. So in the letterbox you will find something to warm you up, from the inside out.

Follow the tree line along the river heading in a south west direction. You will see a stump of a tree that may hold a letterbox, but it doesn't. The tree belonging to this stump fell down the trail that will lead you to the waters edge, you can climb over or duck under the fallen tree . . . either way you need to go down towards the river.

Walk along the Mighty Mississippi, heading down stream. You will come to some very large hunks of cement. You are looking for a large boulder of cement with a rusted steel strap coming out of it. I also placed a red brick at the base of the correct piece of cement.

Behind this behemoth, in the crook near a sapling is the box.

Please place box back how you found it and place the cement back on top so no one can see it. Also, please make sure all baggies are sealed tightly and the box has a good seal to it -- as the box may go under water again in the future. Thanks.

Please follow the above clues, I want you to experience walking along the rivers edge. However, if the water is high and the shore line is submerged you maybe able to get the box this way;

Walk along the tree line to the chain link fence. There's a path towards the river, not to far to your right is the large hunk of cement you are needing to locate.
