Directions:

Off Rte 2 take Exit 17 (Athol-Petersham) to Rte 32 North to The Trustees of Reservations “Royalston Falls Parking Lot”. Approximately 11.5 miles, passing Tully Lake on your right. Dirt parking lot is big enough for 8-10 cars and is the trail head for the M&M trail (white rectangular markers)

Box 1
From parking lot go into cemetery and turn right. Go to the far right corner where you will find two birch trees beyond the stonewall. The box lies at the base of the trees.

Box 2
After leaving the cemetery follow the M&M trail until you come to the wood footbridge about 20 minutes. Check out the Lean-to on your left before crossing bridge. Take a left after the bridge continuing along M&M trail keeping brook on your left. About 5 minutes later you will see a rock arch over the stream. Continuing on trail approximately 20-25 paces you will see a large rock on the right side of trail resembling the profile of an Indian head. Standing at the face of the Indian rock take 10 paces up the left side of the rock outcrop. Second box is hidden in the side of the rock.

Box 3
Continue on the M&M trail-keeping brook on your left until you see what appears to be a beaver dam. Continue past the beaver dam where the water becomes stagnant and you will see a rock chasm on your right. Go into the chasm where you will find a fallen tree. Turn around to see two mossy rocks. Third box is hidden under rocks.

Box 4
Continue on the trail about 10 minutes, keeping the brook on your left until you come upon two beaver felled trees on your left. Beaver hut will be visible across the pond. Turn right. Go 5 paces up a small incline past a crooked tree to a flat pointed rock. Box four is here.

The trail starts out going down hill and a little rocky but becomes gradually nicer and quite beautiful. We hope you enjoy the beautiful changing terrain from waterfalls to glacial rock formations to beaver dams.

Time to cover aprox. 2 miles: 1.5 hours(each way). If desired, a vehicle can be left on Greenwood Rd. to make it a one way trip. Greenwood Rd. (street sign missing) is on Rt. 32 about two miles past Royalston Falls parking Lot-first street on right after crossing New Hampshire state line.
