This box is located on Canton Land Trust property at the Ratlum Mt. Preserve. The Canton Land Trust is a very active land preservation organization. The same parking lot is also host to my Capen's Cabin letterbox.

From the intersection of Routes 44 and 179, go north on 179 for 1.9 miles, turn left onto Barbourtown Rd. At the first stop sign go left, at the next stop sign go straight ahead and then just after the drum rock, take a left onto Breezy Hill Road, go till it appears to dead end (from here on it's a primitive dirt road)and park on the right in front of a fallen tree. This is 2.5 miles from where you turned onto Barbourtown Rd.

Stepping over the fallen tree take the yellow trail (which is almost a woods road at first) watching closely for a left turn onto a narrower path. After about 15 min. (my speed, not brisk but moving somewhat) you'll walk between two hip high boulders with a tree atop the right one (look for another box around here). Another five min. or so will bring you to an old logging road(?) cross over and continue on. The yellow blazes after this become further apart and hard to see but the trail is pretty easy to follow. Another twenty min. (about) should lead you to the box at the end a pretty steep downhill (not to be attempted in ice and snow) coming eventually to level ground and a brook. Turn left, take 10 steps, look left for a fallen tree and in what would be the base if it were standing, you'll find a Bandit hiding under bark.
Cover well, to preserve the life of the box.

This box is probably in Barkhamsted but since the trail head is in Canton, I list it there.
