Checked on 3/2012 Still there, all OK
County M
Chippewa Moraine National Scenic Reserve
Start at the visitors center. On the main trail take an immediate right. If you pass the windthrow sign turn around and head the other direction. At the ice-walled-Lake Plain take a left. You'll be on the tail end of Mammoth Trail. Stop to read about the Hummocks and Kettles. At the next fork take the trail to the right. You will soon pass over two sledways. Just beyond the second there will be bench. Take a break and enjoy the scenery. While sitting you notice a tall broken tree on your right slightly behind you. You will find the box in the downed tree at the base of that stump.
To find your way out either head back the way you came (it's the shortest) or continue on the trail back to the parking lot. You're about 1/3 of the way there. Stay on the Dry Lake Trail from this point on.
